Organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs) have made a large impact on the field of organizational behavior. The approaches to OCB have tended to emphasize either the citizenship nature of the behaviors or that OCBs are simply activities that are extra to the employees’ role. This study clarifies the construct domain of OCBs by investigating the dimensionality of the two most commonly-used measures - the five-factor model developed by Podsakoff, et al. [7] and Williams and Anderson’s [13] model of OCBI and OCBO. Structural equation modeling indicated that both models required refinements to improve discrimination. The analyses highlight that the domain of the OCB construct is broader than either one of the current dominant models.5 page(s
