Early Late Cambrian lingulate brachiopods from the Dolodrook River limestones, eastern Victoria

Nineteen lingulate brachiopods taxa, Anabolotreta tegula Rowell & Henderswon, 1978, Dactylotreta unda sp. Nov., Linnarssonia sp. Nov. 1, L. sp. Nov. 2, Neotreta davidi Popov, Berg-Madsen & Holmer, 1994, N. orbiculata Koneva, 1990, N. tumida Sobolev, 1976, N. sp. Nov., N. sp., Pegmatreta clavigera Engelbretsen, 1996, Picnotreta debilis Henderson & MacKinnon, 1981, P. robusta Holmer, Popov & Lehnert, 1999, P. sp. Nov. 1, Quadrisonia sp., Stilpnotreta magna Henderson & MacKinnon, 1981, Treptotreta jucunda Henderson & MacKinnon, 1981, Orbithele sp., Linguella sp. A and L. sp. B are documented from nine limestone bodies emplaced within the Dolodrook River Inlier associated with the Mt. Wellington Greenstone Belt in eastern Victoria. Based on coeval trilobite faunas, four of the limestone bodies are interpreted to be early Furongian (late Mindyallan-Idamean) in age while the remaining five are inferred to be contemporaneous based on the similarity of their phosphatic brachiopod assemblages. The totality of genera constituting the assemblages are typical of late Middle Cambrian to early Furongian lingulate brachiopod faunas deriving from outer shelf and slope-basin biofacies and indicate, in decreasing order of strength, affinity with those of Laurentia, Kazakhstan, Siberia, South China and India.22 page(s
