If the relative drift between the charged dust and magnetised electrons and ions which give rise to the Hall diffusion in a dusty plasma dominates the dynamics, the plasma may become diffusively unstable in the presence of shear flow. The growth rate of the diffusive instability is the geometric mean of the whistler and the shear frequencies. The role of the magnetic field is important in destabilising the waves as the growth rate of the instability is dependent on both the ambient magnetic field strength as well as on the dust charge.4 page(s
