[EN] The invention relates to a nanostructured electrolyte based on magnetic nanoparticles of magnetic iron oxide that can be easily separated with a magnet. The electrolyte comprises a ligand covering the surface and strongly bound to the nanoparticle at one end and, at the other end, contains a functional group that provides high osmotic pressure for use in the treatment of seawater or inland water to convert same to drinking water by means of direct osmosis. The electrolyte can also be re-used.
