OBJECTIVE: Iron deficiency anemia is the most common cause of anemia during pregnancy. Other causes of anemia include parasitic diseases, micronutrient deficiencies, and genetic hemoglobin apathies. Maternal anemia during pregnancy is the most important public health problem.
