3rd Workshop on Process Automation

In the frame of bilateral cooperation between Federal republic Germany and Yugoslavia, which is supported by the "Internationales Buro der Kernforschungsanlage Jülich" two common research projects entitled "Development of Software Tools for Process Automation" and "Adaptive Control Systems" were started in 1989 and 1990 respectively. The working partners in this cooperation are the "Institute of Automatic Control, Technical University of Darmstadt" and the "Department for Computer Automation and Control" at the "Jozef Stefan Institute" in Ljubljana for the first and "Laboratory for analog hybrid computation and automatic corrtrol" at the "Faculty of electrical and computer engineering University of Ljubljana" for the second project respectively. Both projects represent the continuation of two already successfully accomplished projects entitled "Identification of nonlinear and time-variant systems and its application in industry" started in 1984 and "Digital adaptive control" started in 1987 respectively. In the frame of this two projects the First and the Second Workshop on Process automation have taken place; 1986 (April 21th-25th) in Ljubljana and 1987 (November 2nd-6th) in Darmstadt. The opinion of all participants was that both workshops were very successful, so a meeting devoted to the new projects was again proposed. At the same time the intention was to present the results of both projects to a broader audience, so the idea to organise such meeting in the frame of 6th Mediterranean [...
