The reason in choosing this title such as noun phrase is the one of important component of grammar in mastering English skills. The formulation of the problem; how is the students’ ability in making noun phrase of eleventh grade students at Islamic Senior High School SMIP 1946 Banjarmasin academic year 2008/2009?. Its purpose is to know the students’ ability in making noun phrase of eleventh grade students at Islamic Senior High School SMIP 1946 Banjarmasin academic year 2008/2009.\ud The subject of research is 34 students of eleventh grade students at Islamic Senior High School SMIP 1946 Banjarmasin academic year 2008/2009. The object of research is the students’ ability in making noun phrase of eleventh grade students at Islamic Senior High School SMIP 1946 Banjarmasin academic year 2008/2009.\ud The data are collected through written test, interview, and documentary. Then they are processed through editing, coding tabulating, interpreting and analyzed by using descriptive qualitative analysis technique and concluded inductively. The result of this research indicates that the degree of students’ ability in making noun of eleventh grade students at Islamic Senior High School SMIP 1946 Banjarmasin academic year 2008/2009 is classified in Very Poor category, there are 21 students or 61, 76% of 34 students in this category
