Mediation of information in librarian job and its process in university libraries within cultural actions scope

In a scenario where the information is considered basic inputs needed for the development of individuals working in the society as well as an element for the development of a society based on economic growth, political and scientific, it seems necessary to think, even for the purpose test, meaning that most closely matches what you want to understand why information and ways of operationalizing this concept within the context of information science. As a way to explain this operation, this article seeks to ascertain to what extent the action of mediation of information made by the librarian of the university library provides the recovery and transformation of the socio-cultural community which serves to promote both consumption and also the production of culture. This attribution of importance to make the librarian is tied to how these professional understand and internalize the concept of information to direct their practice. Thus to achieve the proposed objectives, we start from the concept of information and mediation of information until we get to the concepts of culture, cultural action and cultural activities.Em um cenário em que a informação é considerada insumo básico necessário para o desenvolvimento de sujeitos atuantes na sociedade, bem como um elemento para o desenvolvimento de uma sociedade calcada no crescimento econômico, político e científico, parece-nos necessário pensar, mesmo que para efeito de ensaio, um significado que melhor se aproxime do que se quer entender por informação e as formas de operacionalização deste conceito dentro do contexto da Ciência da Informação. Como forma de explicitar esta operacionalização, pretende-se neste artigo verificar em que medida a ação de Mediação da Informação efetuada pelo profissional bibliotecário de biblioteca universitária proporciona a valorização e transformação do espaço sociocultural da comunidade a qual atende ao promover tanto o consumo como também a produção de cultura. Essa atribuição de importância ao fazer do bibliotecário está atrelada a como esse profissional entende e internaliza o conceito de informação para dirigir sua prática.
