A crise financeira foi um duro golpe para várias economias do Pacífico Asiático. Depois de décadas de crescimento sustentado com estabilidade macroeconômica, a queda súbita originou uma onda de reformas estruturais. No contexto de crescente integração econômica regional e global, os países asiáticos iniciaram a construção de novos estabilizadores institucionais. Este trabalho analisa uma destas inovações, a Iniciativa de Chiang Mai, que foi desenhada para expandir o já existente arranjo do swap cambial da Asean.
