Love and related constructs : validation evidences of measurement instruments in Brazil

O objetivo foi conhecer evidências de validade no Brasil da Relationship Assessment Scale (RelAS), da Escala Triangular do Amor de Sternberg completa (ETAS) e reduzida (ETAS-R), e da Love Attitudes Scale (LAS). As escalas foram aplicadas em 1549 participantes de 13 Unidades da Federação Brasileira, com idade média de 25,17 anos (DP = 7,74) e maioria feminina (n = 1048, 67,7 %). Os resultados indicaram propriedades psicométricas adequadas, como estruturas fatoriais simples, precisão (aRelAS = 0,85; aETAS = 0,92-0,97; aETAS-R = 0,88-0,92; aLAS = 0,56-0,82) e validade preditiva após 6 meses da coleta de dados. Dados transversais sugerem crescentes níveis de amor (ETAS-R) nos relacionamentos. Um modelo de regressão apontou que os três fatores da ETAS-R (Intimidade, Paixão e Decisão/compromisso) predizem satisfação no relacionamento (RelAS). A estrutura circular da tipologia do amor, avaliada pela LAS, não obteve suporte empírico. Os dados encorajam o aprimoramento das escalas para uso prático. ________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis study aimed at evidencing the validity for Brazil of Relationship Assessment Scale (RelAS), Sternberg’s Triangular Love Scale complete (STLS) and reduced (STLS-R), and Love Attitudes Scale (LAS). 1549 participants from 13 Brazilian States, with a mean age of 25.17 years (SD = 7.74) and a female majority (n = 1048, 67.7%) completed the scales. The results showed adequate psychometric properties, simple factor structure, reliability (αRelAS = 0.85; αSTLS = 0.92 to 0.97; αSTLS-R = 0.88 to 0.92; αLAS = 0.56-0.82) and predictive validity after 6 months of data collection. Cross-sectional data suggest growing levels of love (STLS-R) in relationships. Regression model showed that the three factors of STLS-R (Intimacy, Passion and Decision/commitment) predict relationship satisfaction (RelAS). The circular structure of the typology of love, as assessed by LAS, received no empirical support. The data encourage the improvement of the scales for practical use
