Nos gêneros Babesia, Ehrlichia e Hepatozoon são posicionadas as espécies de parasitos responsáveis pela babesiose, ehrlichiose e hepatozoonose respectivamente. Estes microrganismos têm em comum o fato de serem transmitidos por carrapatos vetores e causarem nos cães infectados sinais gerais como febre, anemia e icterícia acompanhados de infecções intracelulares. No estado de Goiás não haviam trabalhos com abordagem filogenética relativos a estes hemoparasitos.
