This article is part of the discussion about the Political Economy ofCommunication and deals with the implementation of digital TV in Brazil. Besides analyzing the economic, social, and cultural changes that the new digital technology may bring about, the article analyzes the birth of the digital contents industry, which will transform the audiences’ relationship with television and create new jobs and academic demands.
