Jovens negros e ensino superior no Brasil: desvantagens no acesso e o processo de resiliência

This article presents the results of MSc research conducted at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, which analyzes the resilience of self-declared black quota students from public schools with good academic performance. Ten students were interviewed between 20 and 33 years, mostly residents of the metropolitan area of ​​Porto Alegre, from eight different courses. They joined in 2008 the system of quotas approved by Decision 134/2007 of the University Council/UFRGS. Here is a brief history of affirmative action policy and the importance of tensioning of representatives of the Black Movement, labor federations, political parties and society in an attempt to influence the formulation of public policies. We recognize the disadvantages that young blacks experience by accessing the higher education in this country and, through sensitive listening, we identify the process of resilience in their careers, despite the small number of black models in prominent positions in society. Overruns are frequent on the daily difficulties causing the search for fulfillment of their dreams, making them more resistant, leading them to restructure and grow in response to crises and challenges. But institutions are still challenged and need to offer more evening classes, restructure the curriculum of the courses (including laws 10.639/03 and 11.645/08), review learning materials , laboratories , libraries , and student assistance to rethink the permanence of these shareholders the university.Este artigo apresenta os resultados de pesquisa de mestrado realizada na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul que analisa o processo de resiliência em estudantes cotistas de escolas públicas autodeclarados negros com bom desempenho acadêmico. Foram entrevistados dez cotistas, entre 20 e 33 anos, em sua maioria moradores da região metropolitana de Porto Alegre, de oito cursos diferentes. Eles ingressaram em 2008 pelo sistema de reserva de vagas aprovado através da Decisão 134/2007 do Conselho Universitário/ UFRGS. Apresentamos um breve histórico da política de ações afirmativas e a importância do tencionamento de representantes do Movimento Negro, centrais sindicais, partidos políticos e da sociedade na tentativa de influenciar a formulação de políticas públicas. Reconhecemos as desvantagens que jovens negros vivem para acessar o Ensino Superior neste país e através da escuta sensível identificamos o processo de resiliência em suas trajetórias, apesar do reduzido número de modelos negros em posições de destaque na sociedade. São superações frequentes diante das dificuldades cotidianas motivando a busca de realização de seus sonhos, tornando-os mais resistentes, levando-os a se reestruturarem e crescerem em resposta às situações de crise e aos desafios. Mas as instituições ainda são desafiadas e precisam oferecer mais cursos noturnos, reformular os currículos dos cursos (incluindo as leis 10.639/03 e 11 645/08), rever materiais didáticos, laboratórios, bibliotecas, além de repensar a assistência estudantil para permanência destes cotistas na universidade.&nbsp
