TRANSFORMATION OF CULTURE AND CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

The subject of this thesis is the analysis of the fields related to culture transformation, that implies the changes in its financing, ownership or legal environment, as a follow up to the change of the cultural paradigm itself and to the comparison of the selected countries, which differ both in their historical development and the present day. The reasons for choosing the topic are described in this thesis, different attitudes to the domain of culture are mentioned, the contemporary process of changing the cultural paradigm is explained, and the cultural politics and systems in the Czech Republic are compared to the situation in France, Great Britain and the USA. Possible alternatives concerning the trend in culture conception in the Czech Republic are outlined, and the methodology leading to obtaining background material for possible liable decision making about the future culture system in the Czech Republic is defined
