This thesis deals with a choice of proper solution of high votlage source with regulated DC output in range of 0 – 50 kV. Source will be used for testing of electrical insulators, with function of displaying voltage at which breakdown of the insulator occured. Due to low output current up to 1 mA it is possible to use a cascade voltage multiplier as suitable solution. The voltage multiplier is powered by switching-mode power supply with high voltage pulse transformer. The inverter uses single-acting innovative topology that enables a supply of alternating current to the voltage multiplier.
