This thesis deals with problem of generating very short voltage impulses. At the first, it considers the most common shapes of impulses, their parameters and relationship between time and frequency domain. Then it presents possible applications of such impulses. Following part of the thesis theoretically describes techniques for generating very short impulses and their typical conceptual schematic. The techniques for generating very short impulses are compared from different points of view and the most suitable technique is chosen for further realization.
