The thesis deals with the alternators used in passenger cars, their desing, function and typical behaviours and characteristics and design. Alternators are specific with the trapezoidal shape of rotor poles, which produce a waveform similar to a square wave instead of a sinusoid. This is more desirable for simple rectification to direct current, which is used in the electrical distribution system of automobiles. Because of the shape of the poles, these alternators are also called the claw-pole. The design itself consists of creating an alternator in Ansys Maxwell software in compliance with real measured alternator. The results are compared numerically and also graphically
