Thesis treats influences of geometrical characteristics on aerodynamic wing properties generally meaning, wing construction load and describes typical wing design. Next there are introduced basic requirements on gliders, according to regulation CS-22. Consequently there are described composite structures and there is sketched their design. There are described wings of two different present high-performance sail-planes (Schleicher ASW 22, SZD56-2 Diana-2). Finally there are compared modern gliders, their performances and on this basic there are compared performances of 15-metre Class and 18-metre Class
