The European Dimension of Foreign Policy of Great Britain under the rule of Margaret Thatcher

This bachelor thesis deals with the British approach to European integration under the rule of Margaret Thatcher. The first chapter defines the term euroscepticism, its typology and British euroscepticism. The second chapter focuses on the role of Great Britain in the European integration process. The third chapter is about political life of Margaret Thatcher. Her leadership style is also characterized in this chapter. The last chapter focuses on relations between Margaret Thatcher and the European Communities. All the significant affairs, which led to the change of her relations with the European Communities, are described in this chapter. A part of the last chapter is also dedicated to her famous speech, the Bruges Speech. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the turnabout causes of her attitude to the European integration. Further the thesis illustrates how she contributed to the Eurosceptic position of Great Britain, and how relations between individual member states and the United Kingdom have developed
