The development of the textile industry in Nachod in the years 1880-1914

The Bachelor thesis deals with the development of the textile industry in Nachod in the years 1880-1914. The aim of the study was to describe this development of the textile industry and confirm the hypothesis, that the textile industry was the main driving force of industrialization and modernization of the region. The theoretical part introduces late 19th century economics theories and it also outlines the business opportunities in the Czech lands at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. The analytical part of the thesis describes the development of the textile industry in Nachod in the years 1880 1914 as well as it focuses on the business of Barton family. The thesis gives answers to following questions: how did the transition to a factory production go in Nachod, to what extend was the textile industry involved in the growth of the town, what position in a day-to-day life of the town did the working class occupy and what development was registered in the textile industry at the beginning of the 20th century. The result of the study is confirmation of the hypothesis
