Process of Modernization of Society and its Consequences at the Regional Level

The objective of this bachelor thesis is to find social and economic issues of the process of modernization in the selected region in the course of the communistic era, after the Velvet revolution up to now. The thesis contains a map of voting preferences, based on the data from the Czech Statistical Office, and the results of a questionnaire with the mayors' opinions about the social and economic development in Sobeslav region. The bachelor thesis ranks technology progress in rural localities and presents an analysis of the sustainable development, mainly in the field of agriculture. The first one, the theoretical part, describes conceptions of modernization, coun-tryside, countryside community and landscape. The second one, the analytic part, de-fines indicators of modernization and evaluates the open questionnaires and interviews with local mayors.
