Contribution to the productive characteristics of Siberian iris (Iris sibirica L.)

Monitoring of Iris sibirica populations was carried out in four localities in Tabor area in South Bohemia. At each locality two plant clusters were chosen. Measured characteristics were: number of stalks, height of the both 20 sterile and 10 fertile stalks, number of flowers and fruits per a shoot, number of seeds per a fruit, and timing of phenological phases. Phytocenological pictures, soil parameters as humidity, conductivity, temperature were obtained from all localities. The observations and measurements were carried out from May to August 2015. Iris sibirica grows in the meadows of the union Molinion. During the monitoring it was found, that the water level has an impact on the quality of populations. Locality at Turovec, which was most of the time flooded, had fewer larger clumps, less sterile and fertile stems and almost zero production of capsules, compared to other localities that were only slightly waterlogged. Collected seeds manifested no signs of viability (TTC test). All obtained data were discussed and some recommendations were formulated (longer-term monitoring, regular mowing in the late summer)
