Analysis of the determinants of movies revenues in Czech Republic

The aim of this thesis, which is based on examination of dataset consisting of 319 movies presented in Czech cinemas during period from 2013 to 2014, is to reveal factors influencing revenues of both domestic and foreign movies. Significance and magnitude of these factors is estimated by method of weighted least squares. Some significant factors influencing revenues are, for example, continuity, rating on CzechSlovak movie database or number of academic awards. Estimated coefficients show positive relation between all above mentioned factors and films revenues, as was expected. The main contribution of this thesis is recency of the examined data and examination of global topic on local level. Thanks to the latter, it is possible to compare findings to data across different countries or possibly on global scale
