Artículo de publicación ISIIn nature, prey and predator species are embedded in complex networks of ecological interactions. As a consequence, organism level reactions such as predator-induced prey defenses will not only influence the dynamics of both the prey exhibiting the response and its inducer predator, but also that of a wider set of populations that interact directly or indirectly with them. In this work our aim is to determine the consequences of community-level side effects, defense specificity, and timing of inducible defenses for the stability of model ecological communities.We shall consider small webs of two and three trophic levels, containing one to three species per level.
