The CMS Level-1 calorimeter trigger has undergone the first of two stages of upgrades to maintain performance as the LHC exceeds pileup and instantaneous luminosity specifications. Energy sums and jet, tau, and electron/photon candidates are now computed after event-by-event pileup subtraction. A suite of triggers for heavy ion running is also under development. The improved performance is presented here
