We present measurements of heavy-flavour production in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=2.76 TeV and in p-Pb collisions at 5.02 TeV by the ALICE Collaboration. A strong suppression of heavy-flavour production at high p_T is observed in central Pb-Pb collisions, while non-zero elliptic flow is seen at low p_T in semi-central collisions. The cold nuclear matter effects on the measurements in Pb-Pb collisions have been investigated in p-Pb collisions, and no large effects have been observed
