In absence of direct signs of new physics at the LHC, rare decays of heavy flavoured particles provide an ideal laboratory to look for deviations from the Standard Model and explore an energy regime beyond the LHC reach. Here, new results from the LHC and the $B$ factories are presented, with a particular focus on electroweak penguin-mediated $b\rightarrow s$ transition
