Thomson â Spectrum Estimation and Harmonic Analysisâ , Proc. of the IEEE, vol. 70, no. 9, p. 1055-96) to myoelectric signal time-frequency analysis for the first time. They extend Thomson's spectral estimation methodology for stationary signals to a time-frequency analysis tool, which they call the short-time Thomson transform. They compare this time-frequency analysis approach with the short-time Fourier transform
