The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will continue to be the main infrastructure for experimental High Energy Physics. To maintain the physics potential of LHC, a series of upgrade will be required to increase the yearly integrated luminosity by a factor 10 compared to the original design value. ATLAS will need to correspondingly upgrade its detectors, triggers and data acquisition systems. The aim is to be able to maintain a high efficiency for Standard Model and Beyond Standard Model signals despite a much difficult environment caused by the increasing number of pileup from the high luminosity.
