The article analyses issues connected with the usage of traditional clothing by two social movements in China. Tibetan minority is involved in Lhakar (White Wednesdays), while Hanfu Yundong (Hanfu Movement) has been spreading among Han majority. The aim of this paper is to compare these movements, taking under consideration factors such as range of activity of a given movement, its relations with politicians or the place of dress in the movement's mission. Members of the movement have contributed to the revitalization of traditional dress and giving it a new meaning. Both Chinese and Tibetan diaspora have been involved in their activity.
