In the tunnel projects construction process of our country, there are many crossing karst areas situations. Advanced detection of abnormal geological bodies in karst areas is essential to ensure the safety of tunnel construction. This paper takes Guizhou Provonce Expressway Project—Xinjie Tunnel as an example. By studying the overall karst situation of Xinjie Tunnel, the basic principles of Ground Penetrating Radar detection and tunnel detection principles are explained. The detection methods and effects of the Side Walls and Small Targets are explained by real examples.
