By means of stopped-flow spectrophotometry for rapid reactions, the overall rate constants were determined for L-ascorbic acid oxidation by ferric ions at different pH values. From the kinetic data obtained, the possible reaction mechanism was discussed. Likewise, the second order rate constant for the reaction between ferric ions and ascorbate anions was calculated
