The LHCb experiment at CERN is preparing for first real data taking, foreseen by the end of the year 2009 with the start-up of the LHC. A large amount of work of commissioning, tests and improvements of the full detector has been done in order to optimize its performance. During my first year as a Doctoral Student at CERN, I have been working on the timing and readout control of the LHCb experiment in the frame of the LHCb Online group. The group is responsible for the full data acquisition of the LHCb experiment, from the Front-End Electronics (FEE) to the storage of the data for offline analysis, as well as the Timing and Fast Control (TFC) system.
