A compreensive review of the ATLAS and CMS sentivities to top quark physics is given for a centre-of-mass energy of 14 TeV at the LHC. Different values for the integrated luminosity are considered (10pb-1, 100pb-1, 1fb-1 and 10fb-1). The following topics are covered: the ttbar and single top production cross sections, the top quark mass, the electric charge, the ttbar spin correlations, the W polarization measurement and anomalous couplings at the Wtb vertex, the top quark rare decays (through FCNC) and the tt resonances
