The ALICE High Momentum Particle Identification Detector (HMPID) is a proximity focusing ring imaging Cherenkov (RICH) for the hadron discrimination at high transverse momenta (1<pt<3 GeV/c for π and k, 1<pt<5 GeV/c for p). This paper focus on the HMPID particle identification (PID) capabilities in the expected charged particle occupancy dNch/dη=6000, simulated in central Pb-Pb ALICE events
