Background. Schizophrenia is a socially significant mental illness with insufficiently studied etiology and pathogenesis. A number of hypotheses of schizophrenia pathogenesis (dopamine, glutamate, kinurenin and serotonin hypotheses) bring together the fact that amino acids are precursors or intermediate metabolic products of these metabolites.
