The article presents a comparative analysis of English phraseological calques that have entered the Tatar literary language through the Russian language and their prototypes. The relevance of this research is due to the insufficient number of works on this issue in the comparative aspect. The study of the problem of calques as a kind of display of cultural, economic, socio-political and language contacts between peoples is one of the important sections of the theory of language contacts.
