The article describes working with wintering oats at the Maykop Experimental Station. The authors analyze a fragment of the oats working collection of the FSBSI «Federal Research Center All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources named after N.I. Vavilov (RCRI)», which remains alive in the Maykop district of the Republic of Adygea, consisting of 800 samples. The data on the distribution of oat samples by origin, species composition and varieties are presented. The second part of the article describes the study of samples of new arrivals in the RCRI collection in order to highlight promising material for solving urgent selection problems.
