On the CERN Staff Day on 29 September 1979, staff members with 25 years or more of continuous service were congratulated by the Director General at a ceremony held in the Main Auditorium (see also Weekly Bulletin 42/79). Well known characters can be recognized, i.e. Eliane de Modzelewska in the first row, Giuseppe Fidecaro in the middle of the second row, Rolf Hagedorn back at the left and the two Director Generals John Adams and Léon van Hove
