The purpose of the report is to acquaint obstetricians-gynecologists, neonatologists and pediatricians with the etiological and clinical manifestations, tactics and results of treatment for timely diagnosis and referral to an ophthalmologist. The article presents modern data on the etiology and clinical manifestations of congenital cataracts in children, the particularities of the development of the visual analyzer. The article substantiates the need for the removal of full forms of congenital cataracts in the sensitive period of the child’s development – in the first six months of life for high functional results.
