The virus associated community-acquired pneumonia during seasonal influenza has a variety of appearances, and the clinical picture can range from asymptomatic infection to severe pneumonia with respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, septic shock, multi-organ failure. Nowadays modern pulmonary support technologies are used to treat them, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in particular. The article presents a clinical case of severe virusassociated bacterial pneumonia of a progressive course with severe respiratory failure (III) and developed pulmonary edema.
