The paper focuses on the origin of Lithuanian Modern architecture during the interwar period and analyses an emerging phenomenon of architectural criticism and theory. while exploring the press on architecture of the time, first of all you can find numerous discussions on the representative values of architecture, considerable amount of texts on social housing, widely encountered practical problems of urbanization, however, only scattered references to the aesthetic dimensions of architecture can be traced.
