The activation of autoreactive T helper cells (Th cells) plays an essential role in the pathogenesis of demyelinating chronic autoimmune diseases, such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Uncovering the molecular mechanisms of these cells, by analyzing cytokine patterns and surface activation markers, therefore, provides an important insight into the activated T cell repertoire and consequently helps to unveil autoimmunological mechanisms.
