Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) material with high surface area, good chemical stability and multi-functionality, has become an emerging adsorbent for water treatment. A novel kind of quaternary amine anionicexchange MOFs UiO-66 namely UiO-66-NMe3+ was firstly synthesized for adsorptive removal of a widely used toxic herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) from aqueous solutions. The well-prepared UiO-66-Me-3(+) MOFs were fully characterized, and then the main parameters affecting the adsorption process including solution pH, adsorbent dosage and coexisting anions were systematically investigated.
