Individual oxide-apertured 850 nm AlGaAs VCSEL micro-devices discs, 8 Ctm tall and 55 ptm in diameter (pills), have been both bonded and electrically contacted within the dielectric stack of a commercially-fabricated silicon integrated circuit.
