The authors study the dynamics of the meson spectrum, i.e. the relation between the spectrum, the hadronic decay coupling constants, the leptonic decays and the electromagnetic form factors. They describe the mesons as relativistic boundstates of quark and antiquark. Confinement of quarks is achieved by the dynamical assumption that the quarks are heavy (m/sub q//sup 2/>>1 GeV/sup 2/).
