The nanocrystals are synthesized by pyrolysis of organometallic precursors in the coordinating solvent trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO). The important developments that have contributed to this method are discussed. Manganese doped CdSe nanocrystals are synthesized using a manganese and selenium containing organometallic compound.
