International audienceThe unique nature of the Yellow Vests movement, which emerged in the winter of 2018-19, cannot be understood by using the traditional frameworks of socio-economic analysis. We need a comprehensive approach that integrates a periurban cultural model. This model emphasizes primary sociability, a practical relationship with places and does not adhere to the tourism paradigm which, until the Covid-19 epidemic, governed the legitimate values and representations of the city and territory.
