High triglycerides and cholesterol levels in the blood are often the first warning sign of an increased risk for heart disease and stroke. It is recommended by the American Heart Association that triglyceride (TG) levels be kept ≤100 mg/dL, while total cholesterol (TC) levels should be ≤200 mg/dL.
