Osteomielitis vertebral en alpacas

ISSN 1682-3419.Osteomyelitis cases in ten alpacas of approximately 3 years of age are described. Atypical pathologies were found affecting the vertebral column (n=3) and sacrum (n= 1) of three animals which suffered from progressive paralysis requiring euthanasia. Osteolitic (n=3) and osteogenic (n=2) lesions, associated with purulent exudate compromising adjacent tissues were observed, and both Corynebacterium (Actynomices) pyogenes (n=3) and Staphylococcus hemoliticum coagulase positive (n=2) were isolated from 3 atypical and 1 typical osteomyelitis cases
